The crisis at the border threatens our national security. Securing our nation’s borders should be one of the federal government’s top priorities. The crisis at the border has not been a failure due to local law enforcement but instead the lack of leadership from those at our nation’s capital. In the Utah Legislature, we have no control over national immigration policies. However, we have worked to protect our state citizens and preserve law and order.
Utah is a state that welcomes immigrants who join our communities through legal channels. I am committed to empowering and increasing resources for local law enforcement to ensure the safety and well-being of those in our communities.
